Getting Started with PrecastX
Learn how to set up your PrecastX sensors and gateway, connect to the cloud platform, and start monitoring concrete curing in real time.
What You'll Need
Before you begin, make sure you have the following items ready:
- PX-Sens temperature sensor(s)
- PX-Gateway device
- A smartphone with the PrecastX mobile app installed
- An active PrecastX platform account
Step 1: Power On the Gateway
Connect your PX-Gateway to a power source using the included 12V DC adapter. The device will boot up within 30 seconds. The LED indicator will turn solid green when the gateway is ready.
Step 2: Place the Sensors
Each PX-Sens unit comes with thermocouple probes designed to be embedded directly into fresh concrete.
- Attach the thermocouple probe to the rebar or formwork at the desired measurement point.
- Ensure the probe tip is positioned at the center of the concrete section for the most representative temperature reading.
- Power on the sensor — it will automatically begin searching for a nearby gateway.
Tip: For best results, place probes at multiple depths to capture the temperature gradient across the cross-section.
Step 3: Start a Reading Session
Open the PrecastX mobile app or web dashboard and create a new Reading Session:
- Select your project and product (beam, column, slab, etc.).
- Assign the sensors you've deployed to this session.
- Tap Start Session — data will begin streaming to your dashboard in real time.
Step 4: Monitor & Act
Once your session is live, you'll see:
- Live temperature curves for each sensor
- Ambient temperature & humidity from the built-in SHTC3 sensor
- Maturity index calculations (if configured)
- Smart alerts when temperature exceeds your defined thresholds
Use this data to make informed decisions about formwork removal timing, curing blanket adjustments, and shift scheduling.
Next Steps
- Explore the Reports section to generate PDF curing reports for compliance documentation.
- Set up push notifications so your team gets alerted to critical events even when away from the dashboard.
